Looking to explain leadership from a new perspective, Bibi Pelić, founder of Music & Leadership introduced students to the music conductor. Looking to identify what makes a great conductor great, Bibi explained to students how conductors prepare for their leadership journey, develop leadership skills. A lively discussion on leadership style followed with an emphasis on the future of leadership in the digital era.
Ulrike Michel-Schneider, Director of Business Developement and Strategic Partnerships at Music & Leadership delivered a presentation on Kurt Masur, leading music conductor of the 20th century presenting his unique leadership style especially in regards to Leipzig, the building of the famous Gewandhaus concert hall and events of 1989.
Following this, students particpated in the Music & Leadership interactive workshop. Taking up an instrument, students experienced the dynamic of a music team and in a short period of time learnt a few lessons on communication and leadership in a team. Students also had the opportunity to take up the role of the conductor, experiencing leadership in a new dimension.
Many thanks to HHL for organising the event and the Mendelssohn Haus for hosting it.
